So Who's Been a Naughty Boy Then?  By JP Ernst

It seems that not all has been well when it comes to the behaviour of some of the players on the piste and when it comes to the proper use of the circle.  Hence the Pétanque Federation of Australia Umpire Commission (PFAUC) has seen fit to issue two notices to all PFAUC approved umpires to beef up their vigilance of those who repeatedly flout the rules at all future events. So be warned!

It dosen't hurt to brush up on the rules even if you are an angel on the piste.

To read the notices select one of the documents below.
Our Club’s Annual Open Triples’ Champion-
ship took place on Sunday, 9th November.
Early cloud cover lifted to reveal a glorious
sunny day, with a light breeze, the trees
to the West in several shades of green
profiled against the azure sky.

A small field of eight teams had an enjoy-
able day with spirited competition. With
the exception of one team comprising
Rod Deakin, Geoff Shaw and Kerrie
Maddern from Long Beach, all others were
Camberwellians. Peter Mangan and Guy
Mercier acted as Umpires.

Alma Claiborne managed the needs of everyone in the kitchen and Colin and Helen McNamara cooked the BBQ sausages and onions. We are lucky to have generous members who put their hand up for these duties.

Congratulations to Antoine & Nicole Buffet who, together with Trish Ritman, were the winning team.
Peter accepts his gift.
First place winners.

Camberwell, Beautiful one Day, Perfect the Next

”Good Old Knees Up” By Sandra Brown

Christmas 2014 was celebrated with a ”Good Old Knees Up” at Lynden Park on Friday evening, with 64 in attendance enjoying a delicious three course meal with lots of conversation, friendship and good fun.

Don Miller, one of the founding members of our Club, standing amid tables decorated for the festive season, spoke entertainingly of the many challenges encountered on the way to establishing our Pétanque Club.  The twists and turns, promises and disappointments and, finally, the sheer hard work of laying down pistes with only four workers on the first weekend, plus a few more the next weekend who'd had the hard word put upon them.   He congratulated our members and Committee on making the club what it is today, commenting that it is the most comfortable and hospitable venue for pétanque in Australia.
VPCI Launches Website   By JP Ernst

Most of us these days purchase items or book holidays on the web. Now Petanque in Victoria has a new online service introduced by VPCI called where you can register for a tournament via the internet.

Please read the details for each tournament carefully as you may still register for some tournaments on the day or by post.
Friday Afternoons Are Running Hot!  By JP Ernst

If you have been wondering whether it's worth going to CPCI on Friday's, then take a look at all these happy members enjoying themselves after slogging it out on the piste. Good pétanque followed by a good meal with great company!

So until the end of March 2015 we warmly welcomed you to share in the good times at Camberwell Pétanque Club over a couple of games and then a BYO dinner.
We welcomed new members celebrating Christmas for the first time with us, Ron & Sue Jenkins, Steve & Trisha Roodhouse, Myriam Parsons, Adrien Froidevaux  and Thuy van Nguyen, accompanied by his Wife, Cuc.

Thanks to all contributors for the delicious feast, to Felix and Rolande Hernandez for cooking the lamb in the Weber they brought from home, also to Helen and Colin MacNamara for doing the lion’s share of the cleaning up.

Chris Butler, in charge of catering, and Alma Claiborne, in command of the kitchen, had a plan, a roster and their vision was realized.   A truly great evening to celebrate the Festive Season and to pay tribute to another successful year for CPC.
